Description
JetMaster®
describes a family of inkjet cartridge refill kits. The system is similar for
each inkjet refill kit. What varies is the color of the printer ink, the number
of ink bottles per kit (five, for example, in some color kits), and the type of
ink. All inkjet refill kits include as many printer inks and dispensers as
present in the original jet cartridges for which they apply. We have
standard and archival (pigment) jet inks available. Please inquire at time of order if
archival (pigment) jet ink is suitable for your cartridge.
As more printers come onto the market, our listing of JetMaster®
kits grows. If you do not find your printer in the current price list, please
call 1-888-741-3119 . Inkjet refill kits include ink for an
average of 6 to 10 refills. After the
initial inkjet refill kit, you just buy jet ink in the quantities and
colors needed. This makes the cost per recharge very low. And.... since you do
not discard the cartridge nor the dispenser(s), you are friendly to the
environment.
Operation
In general, the operation involves three steps:
1. Remove jet cartridge from the printer.
2. Load dispenser with jet ink.
3. Insert dispenser into appropriate filling hole and release the ink.
Cartridge can be refilled by laying it on a flat surface or by holding it in
one hand.
The operation is really simple, but we provide clear
instruction booklets with each JetMaster®
kit to satisfy the desires of the most curious or cautious. Some jet cartridges are refillable without modifications. Some require minor
modifications. When so, our inkjet refill kits contain the supplies and
instructions necessary to modify the cartridges as needed.

Notes
Recharging an jet cartridge is very
easy. The crucial ingredient, of course, is the jet ink which must have some
specific chemical characteristics. Our inks are specifically designed to
be chemical and physical matches to the original inks in your cartridges.
And, very importantly, they are filtered so as to contain no particulates (the
tolerance is even tighter than with dot matrix ink). Ink must contain no
contaminants or chemicals that may react with the printhead element and must
have anti-coagulant characteristics. All our jet inks comply with or
exceed the original manufacturer's specifications.
Apart from the quality of the jet ink, the
life of a cartridge depends on how cleanly the jet printhead is
maintained. Best results are obtained by recharging a cartridge
before it becomes completely dry. A completely dried jet cartridge may
accumulate particles near the jet printhead micro channels and recovery (typically
by soaking) requires a measure of patience.
How many times can a cartridge be
refilled?
In general, between 10 and 18 times. The more you
print, the more you save. Since we do all of our own printing
in-house, we are very familiar with the recharging process and success of our
Refill Kits. Our cartridges have been very well-used by the time they
are ready for replacement. Some of our consumers have mentioned that they
refilled the same jet cartridge as many as 25 times. The variation
depends on the way the jet cartridge is handled and your printer usage.
Can I damage the jet printhead if I recycle the cartridge?
For many printers, the cartridge contains
the jet printhead. jet cartridges are more affected by the care taken in
handling them than the specific ink used. Care includes, for example, protecting
the gold laminated jet printhead surface from abrasive handling and contact with
fingers, storing the cartridge in a sealed environment when not in use, etc.
It is, however, still foundational to use cartridge-matched inks for
proper print quality (hue, tone, clarity, etc.).
Do manufacturers consider the cartridges
disposable after one use? Why don't they provide refilled cartridges?
Very few manufacturers provide inks for their own
cartridges, although this would be extremely beneficial to consumers and the
environment. Even if they provide jet ink for recharging, it is very
expensive when available.
Considering the borderline exorbitance of jet cartridge costs, one can see
why manufacturers would want to do everything possible to keep consumers chained
to the idea of buying new genuine cartridges every time the ink level monitor
dictates.
Why are manufacturer's jet inks so
expensive (if available at all)? Are their inks different from yours?
No. Our jet inks comply with or exceed the
manufacturer's specifications.
